The water pump/jackshaft gears stripped and left me on the
A34 with an engine rapidly approaching the boil.
The jackshaft gear is shown left.
The water pump drive gear looked similar.
The left timing chain is shown
here. The arrows are indicating rollers, of which there are a good few, with up
to half the roller cracked and missing!
The upper of these two is the
tensioner from the left chain. You just about make out the ratchet assembly at
the top of the piston. Not a Stag part methinks? |

Here we are all
reassembled, with new chains, sprockets, tensioners and curved guides (the
straight ones were fine). But is the timing right? |
